Animal Disaster Planning

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina and the Gulf Coast response effort, more focus than ever has been placed on the inclusion of animals in disaster response plans. The Hudson County Animal Response Team (CART), part of the Office of Emergency Management, is responsible for designing a plan to ensure that in the event of a disaster, an organized, professional team of individuals will respond and properly care for affected animals. HCAL members Joan Mackiewicz and Kathy Henderson are integral members of this team.
