Animal Disaster Planning
Starting with Hurricane Katrina and most recently with the tornadoes and flooding devastating the country, more focus than ever has been placed on the inclusion of animals in disaster response plans. The Hudson County Animal Response Team (CART), part of the Office of Emergency Management, is responsible for designing a plan to ensure that in the event of a disaster, an organized, professional team of individuals will respond and properly care for affected animals. HCAL member Joan Mackiewicz is Deputy Director of the CART effort, and several other HCAL members are an integral part of this team.
Please visit the Petpourri section of our website - Animal Guide/Disaster Planning - for comprehensive tips on how to plan ahead for your beloved pets in the event of a disaster.
